Hi-Five Sports Zone Opens At Northbrook Court
"We're excited to now have an impact on a place that holds so many memories for us," say the local owners of the new youth sports facility.

NORTHBROOK, IL — A 14,000-square-foot youth sports facility in Northbrook Court held its grand opening Friday. The Hi-Five Sports Zone complex includes a basketball court, turf field, event space and a lounge area. The space is located on the mall's second level and aims to serve families across the North Shore amid the ongoing redevelopment of the site.
“There is no doubt that a new day has arrived for malls, including Northbrook Court. Our Hi-Five Sports Zone fills a massive void for malls that are seeking dynamic tenants that command consumer appeal,” said co-owner Danny Tuchman, who grew up in Deerfield.
“My brother, Ryan, and I spent a lot of time in Northbrook Court growing up, and we’re excited to now have an impact on a place that holds so many memories for us," said Tuchman, the son of founder Marv Tuchman, a former commodities trader who started Hi-Five Sports in 1990 and is now an adviser to San Francisco-based Hi-Five Sports Franchising, according to an online resume. "We hope that other kids and families can make their own memories at Northbrook Court with Hi-Five.”

The location's grand opening and open house Friday collected donations to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance in honor of Rana Lou Tuchman, the wife and mother of the Tuchmans who died from the illness two years ago. The event held raffles to raise money for the charity, and a portion of floor was dedicated to the late Mrs. Tuchman.

The complex is the second Hi-Five Sports Zone location and the first in a "strategic move by Hi-Five to explore other non-traditional locations for the brand," according to a release. Since franchising started in 2016, the company has added 19 locations around the country. It said Hi-Five teaches life lessons through sport in a "dynamic approach" called "youth sports entertainment" consisting of fun, challenging activities that establish athletic fundamentals. The location allows parents to drop off their kids to play team sports while they shop, it said.
