Home Ransacked on Cardinal Lane: Cops

A drone was reported stolen from the Apple Store in Northbrook.

The following information is from the Northbrook Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

RETAIL THEFT
A complainant at the Apple Store in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road reported on Oct. 27 at 11:51 a.m. that a man in his twenties wearing a grey sweatshirt, dark pants and carrying a backpack stole a Phantom 4 drone from the display shelf of the store. The store security camera captured the theft and it was reported later to the police. The value of the drone is $1,316.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO AUTO
A victim reported that on Oct. 27 she parked her 2016 BMW in the parking lot at Northbrook Court between 12:20 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. When she returned to her vehicle she observed the driver’s door, passenger door and trunk had been scratched with a sharp instrument.

THEFT
A complainant at Pinstripes in the 1100 block of Willow Road reported on Oct. 29 his daughter left her purse at the facility. When they returned the purse was gone. The purse was a black leather Michael Kors handbag containing $300 and various credit cards and identification.

RETAIL THEFT
Deborah Ann Lorch, 55, of the 2000 block of Maple was charged with retail theft at 6:52 p.m. on Oct. 29 at Goodwill in the 4100 block of Dundee Road. The defendant was stopped by store personnel after attempting to leave the business without paying for $38.39 in merchandise. The defendant, according to the complainant, placed merchandise into containers and then sealed the containers. The defendant then attempted to purchase the containers without disclosing to the clerk that she had placed additional store merchandise within the containers.

CDV
A complainant in the 800 block of Western Avenue reported that during the overnight hours of Oct. 30-31 the rear window of their Toyota Camry was shattered possibly by a pellet gun.

Two other similar incidents were reported in Northbrook last week.

RETAIL THEFT
Emily Sherpert, 38, Deerfield was charged with retail theft at 12:53 p.m. on Oct. 31 at Whole Foods in the 800 block of Willow Road. The complainant, the store loss prevention agent, observed the defendant place 14 miscellaneous food items into two reusable grocery bags and attempt to leave the store without paying for the items. The store security stopped her after she passed the last point of purchase.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
A victim in the 400 block of Cardinal Lane reported he returned home to discover his home had been burglarized. He reported that he left his residence at 4 p.m. on Oct. 31 and returned at 8 p.m. to find the front door closed but unlocked and the rear patio door forced open. The victim reported that the bedrooms were ransacked and that initially he could determine that some jewelry and currency had been taken by the offenders.

RETAIL THEFT
The complainant, a store employee at the DSW store in the 900 block of Willow Road, reported at 6:50 p.m. on Nov. 1 that four female black offenders entered the store with large shopping bags and walked to the UGG boot display. The offenders selected 12 boxes of boots, tossed the boxes into the shopping bags they were carrying and ran from the store. The complainant reported the approximate value of the boots was $2000.

THEFT
The victim, a student at Glenbrook North High School, reported at 9:20 a.m. on Nov. 2 that while attending gym class an offender cut the lock off his locker and stole $100 from his backpack.

RETAIL THEFT
Letoria Moore, 44, Waukegan was charged with retail theft at 4:23 p.m. on Nov. 2 at Neiman-Marcus in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road. The complainant, the store loss prevention agent, reported she observed the defendant place an Alo Yoga vest and leggings across her arm and cover them with a jacket she was carrying. The defendant then left the store without paying for the merchandise valued at $234. The defendant was stopped by store security in the parking lot.
