Kristi Yamaguchi Circles the School Circuit Spreading the Message of Caring and Kindness

Former Olympic skater and children’s author, Kristi Yamaguchi may not be
circling the ice anymore, but her latest book, “Cara’s Kindness” is all
about how caring and passing on a small kindness, one good deed at a
time, can come full circle right back to an individual, resulting in
happiness!

Dressed in black skinny pants and a “Wescott-red” silk shirt, the
petite former-athlete-turned-writer read “Cara’s Kindness” to Wescott
School first and second graders on October 18.
Coincidentally, this was also Character Counts! Week, which makes it
especially poignant that her book focused on the pillar of caring.

She followed with a question-and-answer period. Students peppered her
with questions about ice skating, how many books she has written, the
Olympics, her Dancing with Stars experience, and more! Principal Chris
Brown thanked Ms. Yamaguchi for visiting Wescott School. Superintendent
Dr. Brian Wegley was also in attendance, and greeted the children after
the assembly. She then autographed books for each student that purchased
“Cara’s Kindness.”

This books and Ms. Yamaguchi’s visit were provided by the Book Stall in
Winnetka. Librarian Margaret Janavicius and Library Assistant Joan
Marsh coordinated the assembly and book signing. For more information
