Life Time Fitness Project OK'd by Northbrook Village Board

Village board favors controversial project that will include apartment complex and day care center.

NORTHBROOK, IL - Life Time Fitness has pulled off what others like Costco and Wal-Mart never could.

Be approved for developing the lot at 1000 Skokie Blvd. in Northbrook.

The village board voted 4-3 to approve the controversial project last week, according to the Northbrook Star. In addition to the 91,000 square foot fitness club anchoring the development, a 304-unit apartment complex and Children’s Learning Adventure day care and enrichment center are also planned.

Previous attempts by corporations to develop the space include Costco in 1998 and Wal-Mat in 2013. Both failed.

Village trustees A.C. Buehler, Todd Heller, Kathryn Ciesla and Michael Scolaro votes to approve Life Time Fitness, while Bob Israel, James Karagianis and Village President Sandy Frum voted against.
