Chamberlain College of Nursing's senior director of Institutional Effectiveness recognized for dedication in advancing nursing education

Linda Hollinger-Smith, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, Northbrook resident and senior director of Institutional Effectiveness at Chamberlain College of Nursing, was recently inducted as a fellow of the National League for Nursing’s (NLN) Academy of Nursing Education on Sept. 23 during the organization’s annual summit in Orlando, Florida. She was one of the 18 distinguished fellows selected for this year’s honor. Those selected provide visionary leadership and have made enduring and substantial contributions to nursing education as teachers, mentors, scholars, public policy advocates, practice partners and administrators

Dedicated to excellence in nursing, the NLN is the premier organization for nurse faculty and leaders in nursing education. The organization offers professional development, networking opportunities, testing services, nursing research grants and public policy initiatives to its 40,000 individual and 1,200 institutional members. NLN members represent nursing education programs across the spectrum of higher education, healthcare organizations and agencies.

Linda Hollinger-Smith is a specialist in gerontological nursing with more than 35 years of research, academic and leadership experience. Her scholarly endeavors have focused on three key areas: nursing workforce development and retention, faculty development in geriatric nursing, and family caregiver education. As Chamberlain’s senior director of institutional effectiveness, Dr. Hollinger-Smith is currently testing predictive models of both academic and non-academic factors that impact student success outcomes and have significant implications to best prepare students for rigors of nursing education.
