Man Accused Of Striking Person With Bat: Northbrook Police Blotter
Police said the man had previously been in an argument with someone at a Northbrook business when the battery occurred.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
SUSPENDED/REVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSE
- Kasandra Barrera, of Chicago, is accused of having a defective taillight, a suspended driver's license, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested on Aug. 27 at Willow Road and Three Lakes Drive. A court date of Oct. 11 was assigned.
- Jose Olivares-Sosa, of North Chicago, is accused of having a suspended registration, driving while license suspended, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 8:45 a.m. Aug. 29, at Dundee and Lee roads. During the traffic stop, it was determined that Olivares-Sosa had an outstanding Lake County arrest warrant for driving while license suspended. He posted a cash bond to be released. A court date of Sept. 20 was assigned.
- Diana A. Rurkowska, of Mount Prospect, is accused of having an expired car registration, suspended registration, driving with a suspended license, and was arrested at 9:17 a.m. Sept. 1, at Bordeaux Drive and Sanders Road. A court date of Oct. 7 was assigned.

- Esmeralda Gorostieta, of Northfield, is accused of having a suspended registration, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 7:46 p.m. Aug. 29, at Waukegan Road and Three Lakes Drive. A court date of Sept. 20 was assigned.
- Gustavo Hernandez-Bautista, of Palatine, is accused of having a suspended registration, and was arrested at 3:54 p.m. Aug. 30, at Dundee Road and Laburnum Drive. A court date of Sept. 20 was assigned.
UNLAWFUL USE OF WEAPON
Carlos Calderon II, of Zion, had an outstanding warrant out of Lee County for unlawful use of a weapon, and is accused of having an expired registration, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 10:55 p.m. Aug. 30, at Willow Road and Lexington Lane. He posted a cash bond to be released. A court date of Sept. 22 was assigned.

BATTERY
Lief R. Siano, of Northbrook, is accused of aggravated battery, and was arrested at 1:52 a.m. Aug. 5, at the Northbrook police station. Siano is accused of previously being in an argument at an establishment in Northbrook and striking someone in the head with a baseball bat, causing injuries. A future court date had not been set at the time of the report.
- Police responded at 8:33 p.m. Aug. 26, to a care facility in the 200 block of Skokie Boulevard to assist with a patient that was non-responsive. The patient later died from natural causes.
- A citizen reported at 7:10 p.m. Aug. 29 that someone entered an unlocked bus in the 1300 block of Willow Road and stole three backpacks, electronics and money.
RETAIL THEFT
The loss prevention staff of a business in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard called police at 3:24 p.m. Sept. 1, to report a man entered their business and proceeded to place merchandise into his backpack. After the man left the store without paying for the items, the staff confronted him. The man dropped the backpack and fled in a black Chevy Equinox.
