Man Batters Soccer Coach Over Play Style: Northbrook Police Blotter

The Golf man reportedly grabbed the coach's arm and pushed him in the chest.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

BATTERY

Jose M. Robles, of Golf, is accused of battery, and was arrested 12:33 p.m. Feb. 2, in the 1300 block of Willow Road. According to police, the complainant said they were coaching a children's soccer team when he was approached by the defendant, Robles. Robles did not like his coaching style. During the argument, Robles reportedly grabbed the complainant's arm and pushed him in the chest. A court date of Feb. 20 was assigned.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Moriah F. Bradley, of Evanston, is accused of driving under the influence, two counts of failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and was arrested at 2:36 p.m. Feb. 4, at Lake Cook Road and Skokie Boulevard. Northbrook police and firefighters had responded to an injury crash and learned Bradley had rear-ended a car twice and then struck another vehicle. She was taken to a local hospital for injuries. A court date of March 18 was assigned.

SUSPENDED REGISTRATION

  • Tadei Surak, of Deerfield, is accused of having a suspended registration, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 7:09 p.m. Feb. 4, at Waukegan Road and Maple Avenue. A court date of March 5 was assigned.
  • Joette Baldwin, of Des Plaines, is accused of having a suspended registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 9:51 p.m. Feb. 4, at Shermer Road and Angle Avenue. A court date of March 5 was assigned.
  • Harry L. Thomas, of Lincolnshire, is accused of having an expired registration, suspended registration, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 10:17 p.m. Feb. 7, at Commercial Avenue and Sanders Road. A court date of Feb. 26 was assigned.

SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Ede W. Brienza, of Skokie, is accused of driving while license suspended, violating a median on a divided highway, and was arrested at 1:17 p.m. Feb. 6, at Dundee and Meadow roads. A court date of March 21 was assigned.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

Jose A. Resendez, Jr., of Chicago, is accused of criminal damage to property, and was arrested at 4:52 p.m. Feb. 6, in the 2700 block of Shermer Road. The police and fire departments responded to the rear of a business because of a report of a fire in a grassy field. Once they arrived, they found the defendant standing next to the fire. He said he lit the fire to stay warm. A court date of March 25 was assigned.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS TO LAND

Amy E. Colomb, of Willowbrook, was refusing to leave a shopping center in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road, at 7:22 p.m. Feb. 6, which was closing time. Police learned she had active warrants out of DuPage County for two counts of criminal trespass to land, illegal solicitation for a ride on a public way, disorderly conduct, and was arrested. She was taken into custody by the DuPage County Sheriff's Office.

RETAIL THEFT

The loss prevention staff at a store in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road noticed at 11:53 a.m. Feb. 8, several subjects acting suspiciously and attempting to conceal several pieces of clothing. The subjects stole brand name clothing such as Burberry and Guess. After they left the store, the subjects fled in a 2011 grey Chevrolet SUV. The officers stopped the vehicle and spoke to the occupants. The officers recovered the stolen merchandise. The subjects were charged with the following:

  • Victor Rondon Bejarano, of Chicago, felony retail theft
  • Ranses Monfe Dominguez, of Chicago, felony retail theft
  • three were charged with misdemeanor retail theft

A court date of March 13 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

COMPUTER FRAUD

A Techny Road resident reported at 12:05 p.m. Feb. 3, they had received a message on their computer that told them they couldn't access the computer and she needed to call the phone number listed. When they called the number, the subject on the phone said he was with the computer's security center and they needed to purchase gift cards to fix the situation. The complainant was instructed to purchase $1,250 in Sephora gift cards. When the complainant tried to purchase the gift cards, the employee advised them it might be a scam. After talking the complainant out of the purchase, the complainant went to another store and purchased $200 in gift cards. They supplied the card numbers to the subject on the phone, but soon realized it was a scam.

RETAIL THEFT

The manager of a retail store in the 200 block of Skokie Boulevard reported at 6:43 p.m. Feb. 3, two subjects came into the store with a baby stroller. After walking around the store, the subjects left without purchasing anything. After reviewing the video surveillance footage, it caught the subjects stealing thirty North Face jackets by concealing them in the baby stroller. Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the subjects.

STOLEN VEHICLE

  • The owner of a trucking company called police at 10:17 a.m. Feb. 5, to report a business leased a 2022 Dodge Ram 3500 to an individual to complete a delivery in the 1800 block of Techny Road. Yet, the subject never returned the truck after the delivery was completed. They attempted to contact the subject to demand the truck to be returned, but the subject cut off all correspondence.
  • The owner of a trucking company in the 3300 block of Commercial Avenue reported at 10:27 a.m. Feb. 5, an employee leased a 2019 silver Peterbilt Truck. The driver has refused to pay him for the lease and refused to bring the truck back. The owner said the GPS and engine deactivation program has been disabled by the driver.

THEFT

  • The owner of a business in the 600 block of Academy Drive called police at 11:34 a.m. Feb. 6, to report someone stole the two “We Stand Together with Israel” signs from the front of the business. He also stated this is an ongoing problem, since this has happened before.
  • A complainant called police at 1:15 p.m. Feb. 7, to report she was shopping at a grocery store in the 800 block of Willow Road when she was approached by a male subject. The subject claimed he spoke French and needed assistance with understanding what food product to purchase. After the complainant assisted him, he quickly walked away. She later noticed her wallet and phone were missing from her purse.
