Man Tried To Use Fake ID To Pick Up Package: Northbrook Blotter
Glenview man, Niles woman accused of DUI; driving complaint leads to felony charge for Chicago man: Northbrook police blotter, May 3–May 16

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
FRAUD
A resident in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road reported that their bank notified them of several fraudulent checks that had been issued from their account.
THEFTS

- A resident of the 2800 block of Weller Lane reported around 3:30 p.m. on May 3 that they had never received an item that they had purchased online from someone.
- Someone stole a snow plow from a truck in the 1900 block of Willow Road prior to 8:15 a.m. on May 7.
(UNLOCKED) CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 1000 block of Sunset Road reported around 9:15 p.m. on May 3 that someone had burglarized an unlocked car and stole their vehicle registration from inside.
EMBASSY SCAM
A Brian Drive resident reported on the morning of April 30 that they had gotten a call from someone purporting to be with the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C. The caller claimed that a woman in custody had the resident's passport and convinced the resident to provide personal information. The "embassy" representative told the resident not to discuss the call with anyone, and the resident realized it was a scam a short time later. No fraudulent activity had been discovered at the time of the report.

HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 1500 block of Grant Road reported around 3:15 p.m. on May 4 that someone had stolen a tote bag containing various personal items from a crawl space.
CAR BURGLARIES
- Someone smashed the front window of a car parked in the 1200 block of Sanders Road sometime prior to 6:30 p.m. on May 5 and stole a purse from inside for an unspecified loss.
- Someone stole several items from a trailer parked in the 1000 block of Angle Street between 1:30 and 3 p.m. on May 9.
DECEPTIVE PRACTICES
A customer in the 600 block of Academy Drive used a check that later bounced to pay for unspecified services between March 1 and May.
IDENTITY THEFT
A Chartres Drive resident reported on the afternoon of May 9 that they discovered during a random credit check that someone had opened an unauthorized cellular account using their identity.
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES
A Sunset Lane resident reported on the afternoon of May 10 that an item they purchased online last month had yet to be delivered.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
A resident in the 1000 block of Keystone Avenue reported around 10:30 a.m. on May 14 that someone had stolen tools from their home.
FORGERY
A Founders Drive resident reported around 11 a.m. on May 14 that they had been contacted by their bank regarding fraudulent check activity, although they were not missing any checks.
COUNTERFEIT ATTEMPT
Staff at the Whole Foods, 840 Willow Road, reported around 1:30 p.m. on May 16 that someone tried to pay for items using a fake $100 bill. When the person was told the store was going to confiscate the bill, the unidentified person left the store. Police did not provide a description of a suspect.
ARRESTS
A 19-year-old Dolton woman was arrested around 8:30 p.m. on May 2 and charged with driving with out a valid license following a traffic stop in the area of Skokie Boulevard and Lake Cook Road. She was also issued a citation for expired registration.
Omar Rubio-Hernandez, 33, of the 2700 block of North Nordica Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 9 p.m. on May 3 and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a revoked license, driving under the influence after officers were dispatched to the area of Shermer and Techny roads for a complaint about a driver. He was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.
Rafael Breton Martinez, 23, of the 1700 block of Greenwood Road, Glenview, was arrested around 11:45 p.m. on May 6 in the 2300 block of Waukegan Road and charged with driving under the influence. He was also issued citations for no proof of insurance, improper lane usage and not having his driver's license at the time.
A 22-year-old Melrose Park man was arrested around 12:15 a.m. on May 8 and was charged with driving with a suspended license and driving with registration suspended for lack of insurance following a traffic stop in the area of Willow Road and The Strand.
A 25-year-old Elk Grove Village man was arrested around 12:30 a.m. on May 11 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Willow Road by an officer who recognized him as having a suspended license. He was also issued a citation for no proof of insurance.
A 37-year-old Hainesville woman was arrested around 8:30 p.m. on May 12 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the area of Shermer and Hillside roads. She was also issued citations for no proof of insurance and disobeying a traffic control signal.
A 35-year-old Waukegan man was arrested around 7:45 a.m. on May 15 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 900 block of Dundee Road. He was also ticketed for disobeying a sign forbidding right turns on red lights.
