New Art School Opening in Northbrook

Northbrook resident Pamela Tokowitz is opening the Art and Soul school at the Christopher Laughlin School of Music.

Art and Soul, a new community art school launched by Pam Tokowitz, a Northbrook resident, is currently taking enrollments for the Fall season.

Tokowitz, a social worker, artist and Loyola School of Social Work graduate, believes that creative expression and art help ease the stresses of life. Her experience includes working with a wide range of students from public, private and special needs schools and community service centers. 

“The process of creating art activates the imaginative side of the brain, stimulating our spatial and intuitive knowledge,” she said.

Classes in drawing, painting, collage and beading are available to students of all ages and levels. A list of classes is online.

“Our instructors are experienced, innovative and adaptive to a variety of  individual creative styles and needs," Tokowitz said.

Art and Soul will include a drop-in center and special programs for clergy interested in exploring the relationship between spirituality and creativity.

Tokowitz hopes the welcoming environment of her school will make it a local destination for anyone to connect and share ideas. The school's classes will be held in the .
