Northbrook 4 Charged in Retail Theft Ring

Group would target Apple, Samsung and Lego products at Chicago-area businesses, police say.

A quartet of unemployed Northbrook residents are accused of organizing a retail theft ring that resulted in possibly more than $100,000 worth of items being stolen from Chicago area businesses, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Arlington Heights police have charged Dragan Moro Owens, 36; Natsasa Petrov, 34; Kochak Owens, 18 and Zvanko Dobobrov, 21 - all of Northbrook - with continuing a financial crime enterprise. They are accused of targeting Apple, Samsung and Lego products.

Reports indicate the group would use diversionary tactics to distract security guards while shoplifting and then sell the items through an online auction site.

More than $20,000 in stolen merchandise has been recovered along with a Mercedez-Benz, two firearms, more than $100,000 in cash and $45,000 in jewelry.

Three of the suspects had addresses listed on Carol Lane, the other on Cedar Court - according to the Daily Herald.
