Northbrook Bluehawks Win CCM World Invite Hockey Championships

The Bluehawks' 14U and 12U teams both captured prestigious CCM World Invite championships last weekend in Sarnia, Canada

The Northbrook Bluehawks' Bantam 1 (14U) and Peewee 1 (12U) hockey teams both captured prestigious CCM World Invite championships at their respective age levels this past weekend in Sarnia, Ontario (Canada).

The club sent its top teams at each age level to compete against opponents from across North America. Both teams finished the weekend with perfect 6-0 records. Northbrook's Squirt 1 (10U) team also competed in the tournament but lost in the semi-finals to Saginaw, Michigan.

In the 14U championship game, the Bluehawks' Bantam team—currently ranked #9 in America at its tier by MyHockeyRankings—knocked off a gritty Los Angeles Jr. Kings team 4-2.

The Bluehawks' Peewee team won the 12U championship game in dramatic fashion, beating Joliet, Illinois 2-1 in double overtime.

Northbrook's 14U Bantam 1 team is: Michael Dimoff, Nathan Dynia, Josh Genin, Nate Kasdan, Conor Katsamakis, Logan Lyons, Noah Masinter, Matthew Miscevich, Joshua Pick, Anthony Rafalowski, Ryan Rossi, Matthew Ruttkay, Avi Schoenberg, Cooper Shalin, Matthew St. John, Will Steele, and Noah Wilson. The team is coached by Zach Loesch and Josh Weinstein.

Northbrook's 12U Peewee 1 team is: Jackson Bobula, Will Brajkovic, Brendan Contreras, Matthew Curin, Johnathan Folland, Thomas Henricksen, Jonah Kasdan, Morgan Link, Ben Melnick, Benjamin Ovnanyan, Joshua Raub, Charlie Rosen, Daniel Rubin, Jake Semmelhack, and Charlie Walker. The team is coached by Rich Blakey and Wynn Henricksen.

The Northbrook Bluehawks are a community-based organization that offers learn-to-play, recreational house league hockey, and competitive travel hockey programs for boys & girls ages 3 & up. The club is offering a "Try Hockey for Free" free hockey lesson this Saturday at 2:40PM at the Northbrook Sports Center for boys and girls ages 3-9 who don't already play hockey.
