Northbrook Cancels Meetings, Events To Combat Coronavirus Spread
Village board and commission meetings are cancelled through April 5, according to village staff.

NORTHBROOK, IL — All village meetings and events in Northbrook have been canceled in response to the outbreak of the new coronavirus. Village Hall will remain open for regular hours and early voting is continuing as scheduled, village staff announced Thursday.
The decision to suspend all meetings of the Northbrook Village Board and village commissions was made "out of an abundance of caution" and based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC, and the Illinois Department of Public Health, or IDPH, according to village staff.
Public health officials recommend avoiding close contact and large groups to reduce the risk of the COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus strain first identified last year in Wuhan, China.

To limit the community spread of the virus, the CDC recommends frequent handwashing, regularly disinfecting commonly used spaces, avoiding touching the eyes, nose, and mouth, and staying home when sick. A hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol is recommended if hand-washing with soap and water is not available.
