Summer Stock 2022, which benefits the Northfield Township Food Pantry, is scheduled for Wednesday, July 20, at the market.
NORTHBROOK, IL — Organizers of the Northbrook Farmers Market are asking the community to help restock the shelves at the Northfield Township Food Pantry with household cleaning and personal hygiene products.
Summer Stock 2022, sponsored by the farmers market friends at Edward Jones — Northbrook, is planned for Wednesday, July 20.
According to Dale Duda, market manager of the farmers market, items of particular need include paper towels, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, laundry detergent, dish soap, women's personal hygiene products, and other dry goods. Farmers market organizers said they are grateful to Omar Zaki and Julie Grobman of Edward Jones — Northbrook for their generous donation that helps defray expenses associated with the event.
"We are honored to sponsor a collection drive for the food pantry," Zaki said. "We think it's great that our local farmers market makes this effort to help those who need assistance. It's all about community."
As always, volunteers will be available at the Welcome Booth to help unload cars for those needing assistance with their donations.
Northfield Township, which operates the food pantry, will offer information about the pantry and other services at their drop-off table.
Additionally, every Wednesday volunteers collect fresh produce for the pantry from the market's farmers, for a total of more than 65,000 pounds over the years.
The market is open 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays, through Oct. 12, in the parking lot of Meadow Plaza, Cherry Lane and Meadow Road.
