Northbrook Farmers Market Hosts Food Pantry Collection

Northbrook Farmers Market once again is asking the community to help restock Northfield Township Food Pantry shelves Wednesday, July 11, with donations at the ninth annual Summer Stock 20'18, sponsored by Advanced Disposal, the village's refuse collector. Items of particular need include paper towels, toilet paper, laundry detergent, dish soap and diapers, all items that cannot be purchased with food stamps, but certainly are necessities.

New this year: anyone who donates items or cash may enter to win a $25 Sunset Foods gift card drawing as our thanks.

Market organizers are grateful to Advanced Disposal for their generous donation that helps defray expenses associated with the event. The company's environmentally friendly natural-gas-powered collection truck will be parked near the market for children of all ages to explore, including honking the horn and having your picture taken!

As always, volunteers will be available to help unload cars for those needing assistance with their donations.
Northfield Township, which operates the food pantry, will offer information about the pantry at the Community Booth.
The timing of this collection is perfect because during the summer many people are on vacation and busy with other priorities so the pantry's stock of household items can run low, said Jill Brickman, Northfield Township Supervisor.

"Our clients are always so grateful for people's generosity," she said.
