Northbrook Farmers Market To Restock Pantry Shelves

Northbrook Farmers Market once again asks the community to fill a pickup truck and restock food pantry shelves with household cleaning and personal hygiene products. Summer Stock 2024, sponsored by Edward Jones-Northbrook, is Wednesday, July 17, 7 am to 1 pm, in the parking lot of Meadow Plaza, Cherry Lane and Meadow Road, downtown Northbrook.

Items of particular need include paper towels, toilet paper, laundry detergent, dish soap, women's personal hygiene products, and other dry goods -- all items that cannot be purchased with food stamps, but certainly are necessities.

Monetary donations also help the pantry purchase food and supplies as needed, said Township Supervisor Shiva Mohsenzadeh.

Market organizers are grateful to Omar Zaki and Magdy Abd of Edward Jones-Northbrook for their generous donation that helps defray expenses associated with the collection event. "We are honored to sponsor a collection drive for the food pantry," said Abd. "We think it's great that our local farmers market makes this effort to help those who need assistance. It's all about community," he said.

Market volunteers will be available to help unload cars for those needing assistance with their donations.
Northfield Township, which operates the food pantry, will offer information about the pantry and other services at their drop-off table.

In addition to the annual Summer Stock Day, each week volunteers collect fresh produce from farm stands, for a total donation of more than 85,000 pounds of just-picked fruits and vegetables for food pantry clients.
