Northbrook Music School Launches Youth Theater Program
Auditions begin March 6 for the CLSM Youth Theater's Spring Musical, "Into the Woods, JR."
The Christopher Laughlin School of Music in Northbrook is launching a new youth theater program with a Spring production of Stephen Sondheim's "Into the Woods, JR." Auditions for the show, open to performers ages 9 - 14, begin March 6. Performances will take place on May 21 and 22 at the Northbrook Leisure Center's "Little Theater." The show will be directed by CLSM voice instructor Aaron Kahn, who has previously directed shows for the Glenview Children's Theater.
"I am extremely excited to be putting on this amazing production for the CLSM Youth Theatre," said Kahn. "My goals for the program are for students to not only gain knowledge of theatre and this fantastic show, but to work on their acting, singing, dancing and much more. Theatre is a very collaborative experience so I want students to learn all aspects of it and see what it takes to create a production from onstage to behind the scenes. "Into the Woods" is one of the most influential shows to me as a teacher and director. This show in particular is great for those who want to work on their vocal and acting skills."
