Northbrook Nail Salon Armed Robber Gets 10 Years In Prison
The Chicago man and his juvenile accomplice were being tracked by investigators when they robbed a salon at gunpoint, prosecutors said.

SKOKIE, IL — A Chicago man pleaded guilty to robbing a Northbrook nail salon at gunpoint last year in exchange for a sentence of 10 years in state prison, Pioneer Press reported. Orlando Lofton, 20, of the 3600 block of West Fillmore Street in Chicago, pleaded guilty Oct. 22 to armed robbery, nearly a year after he and a juvenile companion were arrested following a police pursuit that included officers from Glenview, Niles, Northbrook and Morton Grove.
Police said the Lofton and his alleged accomplice entered the salon at 1512 Shermer Road on the afternoon of Oct. 28, 2017 armed with handguns, demanding the patrons turn over their belongings before fleeing. They were apprehended after they ditched the vehicle and jumped a fence into a Niles Park District waterpark, where one surrendered to a police dog and the other was tased.
Prosecutors said Lofton was a suspect in other robberies at the time of the Northbrook incidents and investigators had put a tracking device on his vehicle, according to Pioneer Press, and trailed the vehicle from the nail salon. Lofton was also charged with violent offenses in other jurisdictions.
