Northbrook Native Will Be Lone All-Star Representative For Cleveland Indians

Manager Terry Francona calls Jason Kipnis "one of the best players in the league."

Jason Kipnis, a Northbrook native and Glenbrook North High School alum, will be the lone representative for the Cleveland Indians at the All-Star Game, set for July 14 in Cincinnati.

Kipnis’ selection, which came via a vote of his peers, was no surprise to Indians Manager Terry Francona, according to a Cleveland.com report.

“He’s just been a force,” Francona said of Kipnis. “Whether it’s at the plate, at second, on the bases, he’s played the game with such a vengeance. It’s been fun to watch. We’ve had our shares of ups and down as a team, and thankfully, he has been a force pretty much the whole time.”
