Northbrook Native Wins Emmy for Video Editing
Alexander Rubinow was part of the team that produced the season premiere of "Deadliest Catch."

Northbrook native and Glenbrook North High School alum Alexander Rubinow was part of the Emmy-winning team for “Outstanding Picture Editing for Reality Programming” category when the television award show aired Sunday.
Rubinow and colleagues Alex Durham and Josh Earl (as Original Productions, LLC, a FremantleMedia Company for the Discovery Channel) won for the season premiere episode of “Deadliest Catch: A Brotherhood Tested,” besting “The Amazing Race,” “Project Runway” and “Project Runway All Stars;” “Shark Tank” and “Survivor.”
The 1997 GBN alum described the feeling of winning with the Northbrook Star.

“And then your name gets called, and you’re floating. You’re on air,” Rubinow said. “You have to prepare yourself that it won’t happen – it’s like waiting at the doctor’s office for the needle to stick because you know it’s happening – but the needle didn’t stick.”
“I remember getting up; I remember hugging … we celebrated a little bit in the aisle. I remember going up there, walking up the stairs and taking the speech out. I remember the crowd reacting a bit to what I said. But when I got off, I couldn’t remember if I’d thanked everybody enough.”
