NORTHBROOK, IL — Local police departments recently ramped up enforcement efforts during Super Bowl weekend. Northbrook police were among those participating and announced the results of the campaign that ran from last Friday through Monday.

The Northbrook Police Department said it issued 17 seat belt citations, one speeding citation, two distracted driving citations, and three other citations as part of the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" campaigns. Police said the goal was to keep impaired drivers off the roads and ensure more people buckle up and follow all traffic safety laws.

"Motorists should understand that we are serious about cracking down on impaired drivers
and seat belt and other traffic safety law violators. We do it to save lives," Northbrook Sergeant
Chris Lacina said.
