Northbrook School Board Appoints New Assistant Superintendent
D28 Board appoints a replacement for retiring Kathy Horvath.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Northbrook District 28 will have a new assistant superintendent starting July 1.
Kristin Raitzer, currently of St. Charles District 303, has been appointed to replace Kathy Horvath, who is retiring after 15 years with the district, according to a statement from the board.
“I have a great passion for teaching and learning. My favorite place to be is in the classroom," Raitzer said. "My job is to support those closest to the child to make sure they have the resources and opportunities to collaborate with each other.”

Raitzer joins District 28 after holding leadership positions in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Louisville, Kentucky, as well as Zion and St. Charles in Illinois.
“The curriculum starts with the child. The District respects teachers’ abilities to know every child and create learning experiences based on the needs of the child.”

Raitzer will oversee teacher training and development while focusing on classroom instruction, according to District 28, which described her as respected among former colleagues as "highly ethical and professional".
"Dr. Raitzer has the knowledge, skills and expertise to lead District 28 to continued success and improvement,” said Superintendent Dr. Larry Hewitt, announcing her appointment.
