Northbrook Woman Gets Car Stuck, Catches Felony Charge: Blotters

Incidents and arrests from the Northbrook Police Department blotter: Dec. 28 to Jan. 3

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

CAR BURGLARIES

  • A resident in the 2500 block of Canterbury Drive reported around 9:45 a.m. on Dec. 28 that someone had burglarized their unlocked car during the prior overnight hours. Nothing was reported stolen.
  • Someone stole a sports bag containing various pieces of property prior to 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 30 from an unlocked car parked in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road.
  • Around 1:37 a.m. on Dec. 31, a resident in the 2700 block of Oak Avenue reported on Dec. 31 that someone had burglarized two unlocked vehicles. Nothing was reported stolen.

IDENTITY THEFTS

  • A Peachtree Lane resident reported on the morning of Dec. 28 that they had gotten a fraud alert regarding an attempted charge on a credit card.
  • A Bordeaux Road resident reported on the afternoon of Dec. 28 that their bank had contacted them to alert them of an attempted fund transfer, which was halted before it could proceed.
  • A Glendale Avenue resident reported on the morning of Jan. 2 that they had received a noticed from their cell phone company about an account that they had never opened.
  • A Woodmere Drive resident reported on the afternoon of Jan. 2 that they had gotten a credit alert about someone trying to use their identity to open up an unauthorized account.
  • An Asbury Road resident reported on the afternoon of Jan. 3 that someone had used their identity to order a new cell phone.

PACKAGE THEFT
A resident in the 1700 block of Longvalley Drive reported around 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 28 that a package had been stolen from their home after being delivered that day.

FRAUD
Staff at a paint store in the 1300 block of Meadow Road reported on the afternoon of Dec. 29 that someone had made an unauthorized purchase with one of the company's accounts.


ARRESTS

Netta DeLattes, 45, of the 1600 block of Mission Hills Road, Northbrook, was arrested shortly after 10 p.m. on Dec. 27 and charged with driving under the influence following a traffic stop near the intersection of Dundee Road and Anthony Trail. She was also ticketed for speeding.

Marlene L. Hutton, 57, of the 2900 block of Acorn Lane, Northbrook, was arrested shortly after 7 p.m. on Dec. 29 near the intersection of Pfingsten and Highland roads and charged with felony DUI after police were called to a report of a vehicle that had gone off the road and gotten stuck. Hutton was found to have been driving with a previously revoked license while impaired. She was charged with aggravated driving under the influence, driving while license revoked and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. She was also issued citations for improper lane usage and not being in possession of a driver's license.

Craig M. Kozak, 61, of the 100 block of West Wood, Palatine, was arrested around 1:23 a.m. on Dec. 30 following a traffic stop at the intersection of Willow and Greenwood roads and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and ticketed for not wearing a seat belt.

A 58-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 31 and charged with driving with a license expired for more than a year, driving an uninsured motor vehicle following a traffic stop at the intersection of Dundee Road and Timbers Edge lane. He was also ticketed for an improper registration light and not having a rear bumper.

A 22-year-old Glenview man was arrested around 1 p.m. on Jan. 1 and charged with driving with a suspended license with expired registration and no insurance following a traffic stop at Waukegan Road and Chapel Court.
