2 UK Residents Use Card Stolen From YMCA At Apple Store: Blotter

A front door break-in and arrests for counterfeit $100 bill and drunk driving are on the Northbrook police blotter from Dec. 13 to Dec. 19.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

THEFT
A shopper at Marshalls, 163 Skokie Blvd., reported around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 13 that an unidentified woman or girl had taken credit cards from a purse that had been in a shopping cart.

RETAIL THEFT
Staff at the CVS, 936 Willow Road, reported around 7 p.m. on Dec. 13 that an unidentified man or boy had stolen four bottles of liquor and various other items.

CAR BURGLARY
Someone smashed the window of a car parked in the 2300 block of Oak Avenue and stole a radar detector from inside at some point prior to 8:20 a.m. on Dec. 14.

IDENTITY THEFTS

  • A Long Valley Drive resident reported around 10 p.m. on Dec. 14 that they had been notified that someone had opened several new lines of credit using their personal information.
  • A Farnsworth Lane resident reported on the morning of Dec. 15 that a credit reporting agency had notified them of an unauthorized inquiry about their credit.
  • A resident of the 1000 block of Longaker Road reported on the morning of Dec. 19 that they had received past due notices from a company in Texas. The resident explained they had never authorized any credit accounts in Texas and later learned their identity had been used to open several fraudulent accounts.

RETAIL THEFT
Staff at the TJ Maxx, 49 Skokie Blvd., reported around 3:15 p.m. on Dec. 16 that three unidentified women or girls had stolen various items of children's clothes after hiding them in a bag.

HOME BURGLARY
Officers responded to a burglar alarm at a home in the 200 block of Honeysuckle Drive around 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 18. It appeared someone had broken in through the front door and rummaged through several rooms. The door was left ajar and various items were reported missing.

RUSE BURGLARY?
A resident in the 2100 block of Mallard Drive reported around 7 p.m. on Dec. 18 that a man had shown up to their house claiming that they were trimming a tree in a neighbor's yard and needed permission to enter the resident's yard. After the resident stepped outside and walked into the backyard, the unidentified "tree-trimmer" was seen speaking on their cell phone with someone else. The suspicious man them walked to the front of the home, got into a white SUV and left the area without cutting any trees. The resident did not believe that anything was stolen.


ARRESTS

Anthony M. Bloxton, 22, of the 1700 block of West 61st Street in Chicago, was arrested around 1 p.m. on Dec. 14 after staff at the Dollar Tree, 1965 Cherry Lane, reported that he had attempted to buy items using a counterfeit $100 bill.

Salvador H. Rosales-Cervantes, 32, of the 2800 block of South Homan Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 16 and charged with DUI following a traffic stop in the area of Dundee Road and Bittersweet Drive. He was also ticketed for improper lane usage.

A 24-year-old Waukegan woman was arrested around 9:15 a.m. on Dec. 17 and charged with driving with a suspended license and registration suspended for no insurance following a traffic stop for an unspecified traffic violation in the area of Walters Avenue and First Street. She was also cited for not having proof of insurance.

Sebastian Lupescu, 42, of the 200 block of Western Avenue, Dagenham, England, and Marius-Adrian Dorobunto, 29, of the first block of Queens Gate Mews, Billercay, England, were arrested around 5 p.m. on Dec. 17 and charged with felony identity theft. Police said they used a credit card at the Northbrook Court Apple store that had been stolen along with several others cards out of a locked locker from a patron of the YMCA, 2705 Techny Road. Police notified the store about the use of the stolen card, and a few hours later, the reporting officer got a call back from the store manager saying the two men had returned. They were attempting to make another purchase with the stolen car. Responding officers found the men and took them into custody, and prosecutors approved felony charges.

A 59-year-old Chicago man was arrested shortly after 2 a.m. on Dec. 19 and charged with driving with a suspended license. He was also issued citations for not having insurance, possession of an open container of alcohol and speeding after he was pulled over in the area of Willow Road and Patriot Boulevard.
