Lloyd Bachrach discussed his struggles and meeting challenges head-on.

“There’s no one way to do anything, but there are many ways to do everything,” Lloyd Bachrach told Meadowbrook students during his presentation on Wednesday. “You just have to find the way that works best for you. What works for you or for me could be two different ways.”

Mr. Bachrach is a Paralympian who was born with a congenital bone deficiency which left his legs unusually small. He talked with students about his struggles and the importance of meeting challenges head-on and accepting others’ differences.

During his presentation, Mr. Bachrach demonstrated how he uses prosthetic limbs and showed students how quickly he is able to run – “like a cheetah” – by lunging forward on his hands and pushing with his feet. He shared how he was able to excel in Little League and on his high school gymnastic team before joining the U.S. Paralympic Team.

He has always seen himself as “differently abled,” Mr. Bachrach said, because he may have to find a different way to accomplish a task, but he is able to figure it out.

The Meadowbrook PTO sponsored this presentation.
