Each campground will have a variety of fun activities that highlight outdoor adventures, restoration, nature exploration and cultural discovery. Activities are free to attend. Please note, some activities require pre-registration. To make a dinner or camping reservation, call 1-855-YES-CAMP.

You Are Your Greatest Tool: A Guide to Self-reliance
Calling all veteran and rookie DIY-ers! Join us at Camp Dan Beard for a day of building and creative re-use while honing navigation and primitive skills. The day will end with DIY stories, songs and food around a fire.

Log-carving, Crosscut saw and Chainsaw demonstrations

Creative reuse with buckthorn with North Park Village Nature Center
Pop-Up Adventure Playground, delivered by Evanston Games in the Park

1–4 pm: Flintknapping with the Illinois State Archeological Survey; Build a Beaver Dam with Chicago Botanic Garden

5 pm: DIY dinner – We will have all the ingredients for you to cook your own roasted veggies and sausages over a campfire.

7 pm: Stories and songs with Trailside Museum and the Oak Park Farmers Market bluegrass band

9 pm: Bonfire and s’mores
