Pop-Up Sprinkler Heads Broken In Yard: Northbrook PD Blotter

The resident said several were broken by someone, according to police.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

SUSPENDED REGISTRATION

Marc Buck, of Waukegan, is accused of having a suspended registration, suspended driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, having a defective headlight, expired registration, and was arrested at 9:07 p.m. July 6, at Lake Cook Road and Skokie Boulevard. A court date of Aug. 17 was assigned.

POSSESSION OF A STOLEN VEHICLE

Antony Sehter, of Northbrook, is accused of possession of a stolen vehicle, and was arrested at 10:23 p.m. July 6, at Helen Drive and Harbor Lane. The Northbrook Police Department was contacted by Chocolay Township police. They said they were investigating a stolen 1996 Honda dirt bike. The stolen dirt bike was reportedly for sale in Northbrook by the defendant, Sehter. Sehter had previous contact with the CTPD around the time the dirt bike was stolen. Officers met with Sehter. The dirt bike was recovered and Sehter was taken into custody. A court date of July 26 was assigned.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Santiago Garcia-Costilla, of Chicago, is accused of driving under the influence, driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, improper lane usage, having an expired registration, illegal transportation of alcohol, and was arrested at 12:49 a.m. July 9, at Dundee and Sanders roads. A court date of Aug. 15 was assigned.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICES

Susan A. Luckett, of Chicago, had an active warrant out of Northbrook for deceptive practices, and was arrested at 8:55 p.m. July 10, in the 1400 block of Landwehr Road. Luckett allegedly used a fake check at a retail store to fraudulently purchase more than $400 of goods in August 2019. A court date had not been set at the time of the report.

INCIDENTS

THEFT

  • A resident in the 2200 block of Mayapple Lane reported at 10:14 a.m. July 7, a ring was missing from her home on or about June 6. The complainant said there was no forced entry into her home.
  • A Heather Court resident reported at 1:04 p.m. July 7, she received an email from, what she thought was, an employee of the company she worked for. The email instructed her to change the account of an employee’s direct deposit to a different account. After she switched the accounts, the complainant later contacted the employee. The real employee said she never made the request. She then realized it was a scam and the deposits were stolen.
  • A Whisperwoods Court resident called police at 11:32 a.m. July 9, to report he received a text from, what he thought was, his supervisor. The text instructed him to purchase $1,600 worth of gift cards and provide the card numbers through a text back to him. The complainant completed the task, but later realized it was a scam and his real supervisor never texted him.

RETAIL THEFT

The loss prevention staff at a store in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard called police at 12:41 p.m. July 8, to report they had detained two subjects for shoplifting. The staff said they observed them stealing clothing. When the officers were responding, the subjects pushed past the loss prevention staff, ran out of the store, and fled in a white vehicle.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

A resident in the 3600 block of Bernay Drive reported at 3:55 p.m. July 11, someone had broke several of his pop-up sprinkler heads in his yard.

ID THEFT

An Illinois Road resident reported at 10:41 a.m. July 12, that they had been advised that someone created an AT&T account utilizing his name and information. After contacting AT&T, the complainant was advised the unknown subject using his name lived in Indiana.
