Provenance Project Moving Forward in Unincorporated Northbrook

Developer removes signature line for critical public official.

The controversial 137-unit development project at Mission Hills golf course in unincorporated Northbrook is moving forward, but without the consent of one municipality’s official, whose name has been removed from Red Seal Development’s plat of survey for the land.

According to the Northbrook Star, Northfield Township Road’s Pete Amarantos - who has been openly critical of the project that seeks to take over about half the land of the current golf course - has been removed from the developer’s signature line for its legal plat of survey.

The plat of survey is the legal document describing the 44 acres of land and what’s to be built on it. Amarantos has said he won’t allow the plat to be recorded without his oversight.

Meanwhile, Provenance (the development) recently received unanimous approval from the Northbrook Plan Commission to have Northbrook village staff prepare documents for approval of variations in its subdivision code, which the village can enforce in projects in unincorporated Cook County within a mile and a half of town.
