Rep. Carroll Meets With Moms Over Gun Reform

The representative met with members of Moms Demand Action at the state capitol.

From Rep. Jonathan Carroll: Continuing his advocacy for gun safety in Illinois, state Rep. Jonathan Carroll, D-Northbrook, met with local members of Moms Demand Action at the State Capitol this week to speak up on new reform measures.

“Existing gun safety laws need to be strengthened in order to prevent dangerous weapons from falling into the wrong hands,” Carroll said. “Illinois should continue to lead on gun safety and reject the agenda of the NRA.”

Since entering the General Assembly, Carroll has been an advocate for commonsense gun safety reforms that crack down on illegal guns sales and transactions, banning bump stocks and explosive ammunition commonly found in bullets. Recently, Carroll worked to enact Illinois’ new 72-hour waiting period to obtain a gun, and was instrumental in passing the Gun Dealer Licensing law that expands background checks on gun purchases.

Members of Moms Demand Action gathered in the State Capitol to continue their call for stronger gun laws that put family safety first before the NRA’s agenda.

“I want to thank Rep. Carroll for leading the charge on gun safety in Illinois,” said Caryn Fliegler, a member of Illinois Chapter of Moms Demand Action. “We need more people like him who are willing to take action and fight for commonsense reform that will protect us all.”
