NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

THEFT
A representative of a business in the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard reported around 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 28 that their company had not been paid for services rendered in connection with their involved with an unspecified overseas scam.

RETAIL THEFT
Staff at the BP, 1998 Willow Road, reported around 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 29 that a man or boy had stolen a package of Neosporin from the shelf.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Brian Drive resident reported around 9 a.m. on March 2 that someone had used their identity to open up an unauthorized account with a cellphone company.

SCAM ATTEMPT
An Anthony Trail resident reported around 4:30 p.m. on March 2 that they had received a message regarding money being deducted from their bank account and providing a phone number. The resident called the number and reached a person who falsely claimed they had purchased a firewall for their computer. The person told the resident to log into their computer so to be refunded, later claiming they had "accidentally refunded too much money" and demanding the difference be wired back. When the resident became suspicious and contacted their bank their learned there was a pending wire transfer from their account to an account in India.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 2100 block of Illinois Road reported around 7 a.m. on March 4 that someone had damaged their fence.

RUSE HOME BURGLARY
Two men showed up to a home in the 2200 block of Allen Drive claiming to need to inspect the home's electrical panel around 2:30 p.m. on March 5. One of the men came inside and went to the basement with the resident. After several minutes, he left and the resident discovered someone had gone upstairs and rummaged through multiple rooms and opened drawers. It was not known if anything was stolen at the time of the report.

ARRESTS

A 62-year-old Glenview man was arrested around 11 p.m. on Feb. 28 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the area of Willow Road and Princeton Lane. He was also issued citations for disregarding a traffic control device and no valid insurance.

A 36-year-old Henderson, Nevada, man was arrested around 2 a.m. on Feb. 28 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop near the intersection of Willow and Greenwood roads. He was also issued a citations for failure to signal when required.

A 53-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 8 p.m. on March 1 and charged with driving without a valid license following a traffic stop near the intersection of Dundee and Timber's Edge Lane. He was also issued a citation for violating the median.

A 21-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 11:15 p.m. on March 1 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop near the intersection of Willow and Shermer roads. He was also issued citations for speeding and disregarding a traffic control device.

A 24-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 2:30 p.m. on March 2 in the 1000 block of Willow Road and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop. He was also issued a speeding ticket.

A 34-year-old Chicago woman was arrested around 7:45 p.m. on March 3 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the area of Willow and Patriot roads. She was also issued citations for no insurance and driving with one headlight.

Neda N. Musa, 23, of the 3000 block of Central Street, Evanston, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. on March 4 at the Northbrook Court Coach store and charged with two counts of retail theft. Police reported they were called to the mall for a report that she had just stolen several watches and bracelets, and officers stopped Musa as she was entering a vehicle.
