NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

HOME BURGLARY
Around 6:45 p.m. on Feb. 22, officers discovered a break-in at a house in the 700 block of Carlyle Court after they were alerted by a residential burglar alarm in the area. Police reported finding pry marks on the front door and muddy footprints continuing into the house. The bedroom was ransacked and the homeowner told police it appeared various items were stolen.

STOLEN WALLET
A patron of the Athletico Center at 1900 Old Willow Road reported someone stole a wallet containing cash, identification and credit cards that they had left unattended in a restroom between 7:30 and 9 p.m. on Feb. 22.

SHOPLIFTING
Staff at the Lowe's Hardware, 1000 Willow Road, reported around 2 p.m. on Feb. 23 that a male shoplifter had stolen two drills from the store.

THEFT
A resident in the 2700 block of Maple Avenue reported on the afternoon of Feb. 25 that a housekeeper had been stealing unspecified items from their home.

JEWELRY THEFT
A Royal Ridge Drive resident reported around 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 27 that several pieces of jewelry had been stolen. The resident reported they had placed the jewelry in a bag and went shopping at several unspecified stores before going to a jeweler for repair.

ARRESTS

Armando Garcia Gomez, 26, of the 6200 block of South Maplewood Avenue, Chicago, was arrested shortly before midnight on Feb. 21 following a traffic stop near the intersection of Willow and Waukegan roads and charged with driving under the influence. Police reported he was also issued a speeding ticket.

A 29-year-old Chicago man was arrested shortly after noon on Feb. 22 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop around the intersection of Dundee and Huell roads. He was also issued improper lane usage and no insurance citations.

Danice Bell, 52, of the 1400 block of Shermer Road, Northbrook, was arrested around 8:45 p.m. on Feb. 23 and charged with driving under the influence in her block of residence after a patrolling officer reported noticing her driving with significant damage to the front part of her car.

Graham S. Jones, 28, of the 1200 block of Forest Glen Drive, Winnetka, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 24 in the 1100 block of Skokie Boulevard and charged with driving under the influence. Police reported he was also issued citations driving an uninsured vehicle, improper turn and disregarding a traffic control device.

A 46-year-old Prospect Heights man was arrested around 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 25 and charged with driving with a revoked license after an officer on patrol noticed him using his cellphone behind the wheel near Pfingsten Road and Dunsten Circle. He was also issued a citation for use of an electronic device while driving.

Faisal Loay Mufti, 49, of the 2900 block of Coventry Lane in McKinney, Texas, was arrested around 11 p.m. on Feb. 26 near the intersection of Dundee and Landwehr roads and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Officers reported pulling him over over a traffic violation and finding his answers evasive. They called in the department's K9 officer, who reported the police dog detected drugs. Officers searched the vehicle and found various unspecified prohibited items, police reported. Mufti was also issued citations for possession of drug paraphernalia, improper transportation of cannabis and disobeying a traffic control device.
