Scammer Threatens Warrant Arrest, Demands Gift Cards: Blotter
$1,000 bracelet snatched by shoplifter; burglar shatters front door; trio of DUI drivers; takeout order stolen: Northbrook Police Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
FOOD THEFT
Staff at the Ruth's Chris steakhouse at 933 Skokie Blvd. reported around 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 7 that a customer had stolen $200 worth of food after two credit cards they presented were denied.
DOOR SMASHED
An officer passing by the Chase Bank branch at 2801 Dundee Road reported around 3:15 p.m. on Feb. 9 that a door to the bank's ATM was broken.

HOME BURGLARY ATTEMPT
A resident in the 1400 block of Christina Road reported around 5 p.m on Feb. 9 that someone had tried to break into their home. A front glass door was broken, but nothing appeared to be missing at the time of the report.
WARRANT SCAM
A Revere Drive resident reported around 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 9 that they had been scammed out of an unspecified amount of money after getting a call from someone claiming there was a warrant for their arrest and the only way they could avoid being arrested would be to pay the caller using prepaid Visa gift cards.

MAIL FRAUD
Someone intercepted a bill payment to a utility company sent from the 1100 block of Waukegan Road and cashed the payment in Michigan, police were told on the morning of Feb. 10.
SHOPLIFTING
Staff at the Northbrook Court Louis Vuitton store reported around 1:15 p.m. on Feb. 11 that a female shoplifter had stolen a bracelet worth about $1,000.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone scratched a car in the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard prior to 8 p.m. on Feb. 11, police were told.
BAD CHECK
A Helen Drive resident reported on the morning of Feb. 12 that a client had paid for services with a check that had bounced twice.

ARRESTS
Nerijus Surdokas, 42, of the 1400 block of Quaker Lane, Prospect Heights, was arrested around 3 a.m. on Feb. 7 near the intersection of Dundee Road and Western Avenue and charged with driving under the influence after an officer pulled him over for an unspecified traffic violation. He was also issued citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage.
Mitchell Kapnick, 60, of the 1600 block of Mission Hills Road, Northbrook, was arrested around 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 7 and charged with driving under the influence after police pulled him over for an unspecified reason near the intersection of Dundee Road and Downing Street. He was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.
Adam Michael Angulo, 23, of the 4200 block of Linden Tree Lane, Glenview, was arrested around 12:45 a.m. on Feb. 12 and charged with driving under the influence following a traffic stop near the intersection of Landwehr Road and Indian Ridge Drive. Officers noticed him commit several traffic violations and pulled him over. He was issued citations for violating the media, no insurance and improper lane usage.
