Thieves Target Purses Of Shoppers, Restaurant Patrons: Blotter
Contractors suspected of stealing drugs; burglars strike half a dozen cars and a garage: Northbrook Police Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
DRUG THEFT
A resident in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road reported that a contractor came to their home on Jan. 31 for some repairs. After the work was completed, the resident told police they noticed some pharmaceuticals were missing from their medicine cabinet.
WALLET THEFT
A patron at the P.F. Chang's, 1819 Lake Cook Road, reported around 8:15 p.m. on Feb. 1 that someone had stolen their wallet from inside a purse hanging on a chair. The victim only realized the wallet was missing after returning home.

THEFT ATTEMPT
A resident in the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard reported around noon on Feb. 3 that someone tried to steal their purse. The thief was seen dropping the purse without taking anything. No description was provided by police.
THEFT
Someone stole a wallet from inside a purse at the Mariano's, 784 Skokie Blvd., prior to 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 5, police were told.

CAR BURGLARIES
- A resident in the 1100 block of Cedar Lane reported around 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 3 that someone had gotten into their car during the previous night. Nothing was listed as missing at the time of the report.
- A resident in the 2100 block of Ash Lane reported around 7:15 a.m. on Feb. 3 that someone had gone inside two of their cars, stealing a garage door opener from inside one of them.
- A resident in the 1700 block of Chapel Court reported around 5:15 p.m. on Feb. 3 that someone rummaged through their car without stealing anything.
- A resident in the 2000 block of Big Oak Lane reported around 9 a.m. on Feb. 4 that they found their front car door open and about $50 in loose change stolen. The resident received an alert that their garage door had been opened and closed around 2:30 a.m. that morning.
- A resident in the 900 block of Meadow Road reported around 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 4 that someone had gotten into their unlocked car and stolen a jacket and a spare set of keys.
- A resident in the 1100 block of Briarwood Lane reported that unidentified people tried to break into their locked car between 2 and 6 p.m. on Feb. 5

ARRESTS
Christian Orihuela, 23, of the 800 block of East Old Willow Road, Prospect Heights, was arrested around 11 p.m. on Feb. 2 near Lake Cook and Waukegan roads and charged with driving under the influence. Police reported noticing a car in traffic commit several unspecified traffic violations before pulling him over.
A 26-year-old Northfield man was arrested around 3:30 a.m. on Feb. 6 and charged with driving with a suspended license after officers pulled him over for an unspecified reason in the 2500 block of Shermer Road.
