Shoplifter Snatches Chainsaw From Hardware Store: Blotter
Incidents and arrests from the Northbrook police blotter for the week of May 25 to May 31.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
FRAUD
A Meadow Road resident reported on the morning of May 24 that a check they had mailed was never received by its intended recipient. Someone else had cashed it already, the resident said.
SCAM ATTEMPT
A Scotch Pine Lane resident told police on the afternoon of May 24 someone called them purporting to be an officer in Washington, D.C., and claiming the resident's granddaughter had been involved in an accident. The resident realized it was a scam and hung up.

BOUNCED CHECK
A representative of a business in the 300 block of Melvin Drive reported on the afternoon of May 24 that a customer had paid for an unspecified item or service using two checks that were later returned due to lack of funds.
SHOPLIFTING
An unidentified man stole a $400 chainsaw from the ACE Hardware, 1941 Cherry Lane. No description was provided.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 2300 block of Illinois Road reported around 7 a.m. on May 27 that someone had caused unspecified damage to a window of their car during the previous night.
CAR BURGLARY
Someone stole various personal items with an unspecified value from an unlocked car parked in the 1100 block of Skokie Boulevard prior to 3 p.m. on May 28.
ARRESTS
A 49-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 1:15 a.m. on May 25 in the area of Shermer and Lee roads and charged with driving with a revoked license following a traffic stop. He was also issued citations for improper lane usage and an improper turn.
A 19-year-old Waukegan man was arrested around 2 a.m. on May 30 at the intersection of Dundee Road and Bach Street and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop. He was also issued citations for improper parking or failure to wear a seat belt.
