Gunshot Reported At Fight Involving Teens: Northbrook Blotter

Village officials declined to say if a gun was recovered or if anyone was taken into custody after the incident.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

EMAIL SCAM
Someone sent numerous emails to a person on Commercial Avenue threatening to release compromising videos to family members unless the sender is paid about $1,000 worth of Bitcoin, police were told on May 19. It was recognized as a scam and there as no loss reported.

IDENTITY THEFTS

  • A Pebble Beach Road resident reported on the morning of May 22 that someone had used their identity to open several unauthorized credit accounts.
  • A Keystone Road resident reported on the evening of May 22 that someone had used their name and credit card information to make unspecified purchases at various locations.
  • A Mews Road resident reported on the morning of May 23 that someone had used their identity to open up several unauthorized accounts.

SHOT FIRED?
Around 7:11 p.m. on May 21, officers were dispatched to a call of a fight in the 1500 block of Shermer Road. Police were told one of the people involved had fired a gunshot during the incident. A village spokesperson said were no injuries reported and no danger to the public from the incident, which involved juveniles. Police have not disclosed whether anyone was taken into custody or any charges was filed in connection with the incident, which drew a large presence of officers and K9 units to the area of Shermer Road and Oak Avenue.

ARRESTS

Kornelija Rutulyte, 31, of the first block of East 14th Place, Chicago, was arrested at 3:45 p.m. on May 16 in the area of Willow Road and Ravine Way following a traffic stop. She was charged with driving under the influence and issued citations for for illegal transportation of alcohol and improper lane usage.

A 26-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 6 a.m. on May 17 in the area of Dundee Road and Hazelnut Drive and charged with driving with a suspended license and issued citations speeding, driving without insurance and failure to notify the Secretary of State.

Connor Mudd, 19, of the 200 block of Golf Terrace, Wilmette, was arrested at 1:15 p.m. on May 17 in the 2300 block of Shermer Road by an officer dispatched to a report of a suspicious person. A name check turned up an active arrest warrant in connection with a case out of Chicago.

A 45-year-old Niles woman was arrested for driving with a suspended license around 11:30 p.m. on May 20 following a traffic stop in the area of Pfingsten Road and Crabtree Lane. She was also issued citations for driving without insurance or a front license plate and for violating the median. A passenger in the vehicle, Melianna Denikov, 48, also of the 9000 block of North Cumberland Avenue, was arrested on two active arrest warrants from Texas.
