Shoppers With Guns In Holsters Just Cops: Northbrook Police Blotter
A citizen called police after seeing two people at a shopping center walking with guns in holsters on their belts.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
SUSPENDED REGISTRATION
Maria Derylo, of Northbrook, is accused of unlawful use of an electronic communication device, having a suspended registration, and was arrested at 6:01 p.m. April 22, at Founders Drive and Waukegan Road. Police said Derylo was reportedly driving with a cell phone in her hand. A court date of May 18 was assigned.

A citizen called police at 1 p.m. April 21, to report seeing two people at a shopping center walking with guns in holsters on their belt in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road. The complainant was not close enough to provide a detailed description of the individuals. After Northbrook Police responded, the two individuals were found to be police detectives from a neighboring town visiting a store.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
- While canvassing the neighborhood at 9:59 a.m. April 22, police discovered a broken window at the rear of a residence in the 1000 block of Chewton Glen. After contacting the homeowner’s family, the officers received permission to enter the home. Several bedrooms were ransacked and it is unknown what had been taken.
- A resident in the 4300 block of Terri-Lyn, reported at 3:32 p.m. April 22, her family returned home and found the side garage door open. An unknown subject had forced their way into the attached garage. It did not appear anything was taken.
BURGLARY TO MULTIPLE VEHICLES
A resident in the 2200 block of Catherine Street called police at 3:03 a.m. April 23, to report several subjects running up to vehicles parked in their driveways and pulling on the door handles. Two suspicious sport utility vehicles followed the subjects while they were trying to illegally enter the vehicles. The following car burglaries occurred in Northbrook around the same time as this incident.

BURGLARY TO AUTOMOBILE
A resident in the 1200 block of Briarwood Lane reported at 3 a.m. April 23, someone had entered her 2020 Ford Expedition that was parked in the driveway. The subject entered the unlocked vehicle and stole money.
