Smash-And-Grab Burglary Targets Lottery Tickets: Blotter
Shoplifters snatch over 30 sweaters, pants; warrant arrest from small claims court: Northbrook Police Department blotter for Feb. 15–21.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
RETAIL THEFT
Two female shoplifters entered the Macy's store at Northbrook Court, filled their arms with numerous pants and sweaters — the exact amount was unknown but more than 30 were believed to have been stolen — and walked out without paying around shortly after noon on Feb. 16.
BURGLARY
An employee of a gas station in the 1100 block of Waukegan Road reported that around 7 a.m. on Feb. 17 they discovered someone had smashed the front door to the business and stolen an unknown number of lottery tickets from inside.

EMAIL FRAUDS
- A Basswood Drive resident reported on the afternoon of Feb. 15 that they had purchased $500 worth of gift cards and provided them to the sender of an email that claimed the resident's Amazon service would be suspended. The email was fraudulent.
- An employee of a business in the 500 block of Academy Drive reported on Feb. 15 that they had received an email that appeared to have come from their supervisor requesting the employee buy $1,000 worth of gift cards. The employee realized the email was fraudulent and did not make the purchase.
CAR BURGLARIES/ATTEMPTS

- A patron at a gym in the 1100 block of Skokie Boulevard reported that someone entered their vehicle between 9 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. on Feb. 19, but nothing was reported stolen. Police did not indicate whether the car was believed to have been unlocked.
- A resident in the 2600 block of Bob-O-Link Road reported at 6:48 p.m. on Feb. 19 that they heard their car alarm going off and noticed a person wearing dark clothing walking in the street. Nothing was reported stolen.
- A resident in the 1200 block of Hillside Drive reported that someone stole a wallet from their unlocked car sometime prior to 11:40 p.m. on Feb. 19.
- A resident in the 2400 block of Patridge Lane reported shortly before midnight on Feb. 19 that a person wearing a dark hat and jacket was looking into their neighbor's vehicle.
POLICE CALLED ON PEDESTRIAN
A resident in the 700 block of Charlemagne Drive called police shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 21 to report that an unidentified man had asked them for a ride to an auto parts store so he could get a replacement part for his car. After speaking with the suspicious caller, an officer located the man and gave him a ride to the store.
ARRESTS
A 25-year-old Elk Grove Village man was arrested shortly after 11 p.m. on Feb. 15 and charged with driving with a suspended driver's license and no insurance following a traffic stop in the area of Willow Road and Interstate 294. He was also issued a speeding ticket.
A 27-year-old Des Plaines man was arrested around 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 18 and charged with driving with a suspended license and suspended registration following a traffic stop for an equipment violation in the 3400 block of Willow Road. Police also issued him a citation for "improper lighting."
A 39-year-old Ingleside woman was arrested around 3 a.m. on Feb. 21 after she was pulled over for an unspecified traffic violation in the area of Skokie Boulevard and Lake Cook Road and found to have an outstanding McHenry County arrest warrant issued in connection with a $4,111.65 small claims court judgement involving the 4 Wheels Fox Lake used car dealership.
