Sportsman's Golf Instructor Earns Teaching Honor

Michael Wenzel named one of top 50 golf teachers by U.S. Kids Golf.

Michael Wenzel, a golf professional at Sportsman’s Country Club, was chosen as one of the top 50 kids’ golf teachers in the country by U.S. Kids Golf, according to a Northbrook Park District news release.

It is the third year in a row Wenzel has been honored with the distinction, which earned him the title of Master Kids Teacher.

“It’s such an honor to be recognized for this award,” Wenzel said. “I’m very fortunate to have the opportunity to share my passion for the game with today’s junior golfers.”

As PGA Director of Instruction at the Northbrook Golf Academy, Wenzel oversees golf camps, youth golf leagues and a youth development program.

“Michael has accomplished great things since becoming the leader of our Golf Academy in 2010, and 2014 was a remarkable year for him,” said Greg Baron, Director of Golf Operations at Sportsman’s Country Club, a Northbrook Park District facility. “His passion and commitment helped grow our golf program to serve more than 600 participants. Michael’s dedication to the game and helping others earned him the title of Master Kids Teacher, and he is truly deserving of the honor of joining such a select group of professionals.”
