NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and a list of those arrested. Criminal charges are often dropped or reduced and represent merely accusations by the state. An arrest is not an indicator of guilt, and all persons named are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

CAR BURGLARY

It reported on Aug. 27 that someone entered a vehicle parked in the 3500 block of Dundee Road between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and stole a purse containing keys and a checkbook.

THEFT

A person at a business in the 2300 block of Shermer Road reported on the afternoon of Aug. 29 that in recent months male employees have reported thefts of cash, phones and other items taken from lockers during their shifts. Someone has been cutting through locks in order to breach the lockers, employees said.

CAR BURGLARY

A patron in the 1100 block of Sanders Road reported that someone broke a window of their vehicle and stole a purse, which contained cash, credit cads and various IDs.

Several weeks earlier, a similar pattern of thefts was reported at the same location.

ARRESTS

SUSPENDED LICENSE

A 32-year-old Crest Hill man was arrested Aug. 24 at 9:55 p.m. and charged with driving while license suspended after police pulled over his vehicle for a moving violation in the 3300 block of Dundee Road. After contacting the driver, the officer determined his license had been suspended. The man was also cited for disobeying a traffic control device.

DUI

Victoria Ann Bohlin, 24, of the 5900 block of North Artesian Avenue in Chicago, was arrested on Aug. 25 at 2:31 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol content above 0.08. Police said they noticed her vehicle was stopped in the road and appeared disabled. After speaking with the driver, police determined she was intoxicated. Bohlin was also cited for improper parking.

THEFT

Katherine S. Owens, 55, of the 3100 block of Landwehr Road, Glenview, was issued a local ordinance citation for theft after an incident on the morning of Aug. 26. Police received a report that Owens had been taking yard signs from in front of a house near the intersection of Techny Road and Penfold Place. Officers then found Owens standing next to her vehicle with yard signs belonging to the person who reported her lying on the ground next to her open car door, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE

A 45-year-old Wheeling man was arrested Aug. 28 at 11:51 p.m. and charged with driving on a suspended license near the intersection of Dundee Road and Charlemagne Drive. Police said they witnessed him commit a traffic violation driving westbound on Dundee Road, pulled him over and learned he was driving with a suspended driver's license. The man was issued citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and a vehicle without valid registration.
