Attention West Northbrook Residents and anyone using roadways near Willow and Sanders! The Village of Glenview is considering a developer proposal for the NE corner of Sanders, north of Willow, that will impact Northbrook residents.
As concerned residents of Northbrook, IL, we are deeply troubled by the proposed redevelopment of the CVS building (formerly known as the Caremark building) and its potential change from office zoning (I1) to industrial zoning (I2). This change would introduce manufacturing, warehouses, and other industrial activities that involve heavy semi-trucks, food processing facilities, bio labs, and more. We believe this decision will have severe negative consequences for our community. The implications of this zoning change are far-reaching. The introduction of heavy semi trucks will lead to increased air pollution in our neighborhoods. The constant traffic generated by these trucks will create congestion issues on our roads and threaten the safety of pedestrians and cyclists.
Moreover, the noise pollution from industrial activities operating 24x7 will disrupt our current peaceful environment. We must also consider the security concerns of an industrial zone near residential areas. Bio labs raise questions about potential risks to public health and safety. Our community should only be subjected to such hazards with thorough consideration. Furthermore, this proposed zoning change threatens our property values and quality of life. Northbrook and Glenview are known for their beautiful residential areas with excellent schools like Wood Oaks Junior High School nearby. However, if this industrial development proceeds as planned, it will drastically alter the face of our neighborhoods. Schools may become less desirable due to safety concerns associated with heavy truck traffic near educational institutions. We firmly believe that preserving the character and charm of Northbrook is essential for maintaining a high standard of living for all residents. Introducing an industrial zone into a predominantly residential area would undermine these values that make our towns special. So, we would like to ask local authorities to reconsider this ill-advised proposal for rezoning from I1 office use to I2 industrial use at the CVS building site. We'd like to ask that they prioritize the well-being and safety of our community over potential economic gains.By signing this petition, we stand together to protect our neighborhoods, schools, property values, and overall quality of life.
