Sunday Afternoon Egging, Couple Fakes Prescription: Northbrook Crime Reports

Northbrook Police Blotter: Oct. 13 - Oct. 19

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and a list of those arrested. Criminal charges are often dropped or reduced and represent merely accusations by the state. An arrest is not an indicator of guilt, and all persons named are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

FRIDAY THE 13th CAR BURGLARIES

Nine car burglaries were reported in Northbrook on Friday, Oct. 13. Some of the items taken, according to police reports, included multiple pairs of sunglasses, a GPS unit, an iPod, a gift card, a pack of cigarettes, a gym bag, a work bag, golf clubs and loose change.

While callers found their their illegally-entered cars – almost all reportedly unlocked – throughout the day, one witness reported seeing a potential thief inside their parked vehicle at 2:18 a.m.

The witness told police they checked on the car and saw the person run away and get into a dark-colored SUV.

RETAIL THEFT

Someone grabbed about 10 purses and ran out of the Saks Off Fifth store at Village Square, 127 Skokie Blvd. shortly after 6 p.m. on Oct. 13.

CAR BURGLARY

Someone stole a Chicago Cubs baseball hat and some cash from an unlocked car in the 800 block of Division Street. The incident was reported to police around 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 14.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

A resident in the 4200 block of Yorkshire Lane told police the driver's side mirror of a vehicle parked in a driveway was broken sometime Oct. 15 or 16.

VANDALISM

Between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 15, someone reportedly drove a vehicle across a front lawn in the 4000 block of Bordeaux Drive and threw eggs at a house, hitting the garage door and mailbox.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

Over a period of several weeks, someone is believed to have broken multiple lights around the pool area of a clubhouse in the 1200 block of Harborside Drive.

THEFT

Someone reportedly stole a person from a patron at the Potbelly's, 984 Willow Rd., between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Oct. 17. The purse had been left on a table and was gone after its owner stepped away.

IDENTITY THEFT

A resident of the 3000 block of Plum Island Drive reported that someone had opened a DirectTV account in Maryland using their personal information.


ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 20-year-old Wheeling man was pulled over for failing to signal and arrested for having a suspended license and no insurance on Oct. 13 at 8:45 p.m. in the 800 block of Bermuda Dunes Place.

A 24-year-old Wheeling woman was pulled over for a traffic offense, found to be driving on a suspended license and arrested on Oct. 15 at 8:29 p.m. near the intersection of Dundee and Landwehr roads.

A 38-year-old Chicago man was pulled over for an improper turn and found to be driving on a revoked license shortly after 9 p.m. on Oct. 15.

Trevor Grimm, 26, of the 8400 block of Mansfield Avenue, and Jaclyn G. Dalzell, 23, of the 6900 block of Lockwood Avenue, Skokie, were arrested at the CVS Pharmacy, 936 Willow Rd., on Oct. 16 at 8:20 p.m. on suspicion of unlawful possession of counterfeit prescription form. Police were told Dalzell dropped off a prescription in someone else's name to be picked up later by her boyfriend, Grimm. The pharmacy contacted the physician who purportedly prescribed the drugs. The doctor did not write the prescription and had no patient with the name listed, the pharmacist was reportedly told. When Grimm and Dalzell arrived to pick it up, they were both taken into custody.

Alexander Naughton, 27, of the 1000 block of Peterson Avenue, Park Ridge, was arrested at the Whole Foods, 840 Willow Road, on Oct. 18 at 10:54 a.m. and charged with retail theft and battery. Police were told he took merchandise from the store and left without paying, but did not disclose who he allegedly battered.

Robert J. Hoeck, 20, of the 1200 block of Thorndale Lane, Lake Zurich, was arrested Oct. 18 at 7:18 p.m. near the intersection of Sanders and Phyllis roads and charged with possession of a controlled substance and driving with a suspended license. After pulling over his vehicle and processing him for arrest, police said they found a small plastic bag containing an unspecified controlled substance. He was also issued a citation for an obstructed windshield.
