Teen Charged With DUI After Driving On Sidewalk, Into Tree: Cops

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which merely represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Therefore, readers are reminded an arrest does not mean a person is guilty.
INCIDENTS
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident in the 1000 block of Whitehall Drive reported on the night of Feb. 15 that someone had made an unauthorized withdrawal of $1,800 from a bank account and that someone had also tried to place a charge on their account from Indianapolis.

THEFT
A patron at a home supply store in the 800 block of Willow Road reported at 1 p.m. on Feb. 16 that someone had stolen an iPhone 10 from their purse while they were shopping.
FRAUD
An employee of Lowe's in the 1000 block of Willow Road reported that someone had placed a $3,800 online order on Jan. 18 for a product to be delivered to Palatine. After it was delivered, they learned the order had been fraudulent.

IDENTITY THEFT
A resident of the 3900 block of Walters Road reported at 2:32 p.m. on Feb. 17 that their bank accounts had been compromised by an unknown person.
FRAUD
A resident of the 1100 block of Antique Lane reported shortly before noon on Feb. 18 that someone had compromised their checking account.
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road reported at 11:16 a.m. on Feb. 19 that they had gotten a phone call from their credit card company about two purchases that had been made in Northbrook. Police were told the person never made the purchase and still had possession of the credit card in question.
ILLEGAL DUMPING
Police were told on the morning of Feb. 19 that someone had been dumping items into a dumpster at the Northbrook Public Works garage in the 1200 block of Cedar Lane without permission.
THEFT
A patron at the Chicago Curling Club in the 500 block of Dundee Road reported that someone had stolen a leather bag that had been placed on a chair under a jacket between 2:30 and 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 17. The bag reportedly contained IDs, credit cards and about $160 in cash.
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident in the 4400 block of Four Winds Lane reported on the afternoon of Feb. 22 that they had been informed by their bank that someone had been using their personal information for out of state transactions.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Jeffrey P. Ask, 36, of the 700 block of North Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested at 11:21 p.m. on Feb. 17 in the 200 block of Skokie Boulevard and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08 and excessive speeding following a traffic stop.
Alan M. Dzhatiev, 28, of the 3300 block of North Springfield Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 2:54 a.m. on Feb. 18 at the intersection of Dundee Road and Skokie Boulevard and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08, improper lane usage and excessive speeding following a traffic stop.
A 23-year-old Skokie man was arrested at 3:20 a.m. on Feb. 18 in the 3900 block of Dundee Road and charged with driving while his license was suspended, improper lane usage and talking on the phone following a traffic stop.
Alexander T. Jankovich, 60, of the 5900 block of North Knox Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 11:19 p.m. on Feb. 18 on the Edens Expressway near Dundee Road and charged with driving under the influence, driving without insurance, improper turn and improper lane usage following a traffic stop.
A 51-year-old Kenosha, Wisconsin man was arrested at 9:22 p.m. on Feb. 19 in the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop.
A 33-year-old Franklin Park woman was arrested at 9:08 a.m. on Feb. 21 near the intersection of Sanders and Dundee roads and charged with driving on a suspended license after an officer on patrol noticed a vehicle with a flat tire and stopped to help.
Sonja M. Nelson, 19, of the 1000 block of Western Avenue, Northbrook, was arrested at 11:46 p.m. on Feb. 21 in the 2400 block of Crabtree Lane and charged with driving under the influence and with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08 after crashing into a tree. Police were called to the scene of a traffic crash involving her car and a tree and determined she was drunk. She was also ticketed for driving without insurance, driving on the sidewalk and improper lane usage.
