Toddler Left Alone 40 Minutes, Child Endangerment Charge: Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
THEFT
A resident in the 2200 block of Techny Road reported around 3 p.m. on March 22 that they bought something online, but when it arrived it was not as described. The purchased called police and filed a dispute with their credit card company.
IDENTITY THEFTS

- A resident on Dundee Road reported on the afternoon of March 22 that someone had rented a vehicle using their identity.
- A Spruce Street resident reported on the afternoon of March 25 that someone tried to buy $1,700 of merchandise using their credit card from a Kroger store in Houston, Texas.
- A Cedar Court resident reported on the morning of March 27 that someone had used their identity to open up a Verizon account and buy a cell phone. There was no loss reported.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 1700 block of Larkdale Road reported around 1 a.m. on March 23 that someone had broken the driver's side door's window of a vehicle.
CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 1900 block of Cherry Lane reported on the afternoon of March 23 that someone stole their cell phone from inside an unlocked parked car.

SPOOFED EMAIL SCAM
A scammer sent an email appearing to be from a friend to a person in the 2600 block of Techny Road. The email requested the purchase of an iTunes gift card and the numbers.
FORGERY
A Picardy Drive resident reported on the evening of March 27 that someone had posted four forged checks to their account.
ARRESTS
Milena J. Spencer, 40, of the 1900 block of North Maud Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 2:46 p.m. on March 23 in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road and charged with child endangerment after police reported she left a toddler alone in a vehicle for 40 minutes.
J.T. Hampton, 23, of the 8100 block of South Maryland Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 1:16 a.m. on March 24 in the 600 block of Waukegan Road after police pulled over a vehicle in which he was was riding and learned he had an active arrest warrant related to a charge of criminal damage and an unserved order of protection.
A 29-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 6:30 p.m. on March 27 and charged with driving with registration suspended due to lack of insurance and driving an uninsured vehicle after he was pulled over by an officer who noticed his car's suspended plates.
