Village Board Honors Nick Hardy for U.S. Open Finish

The Glenbrook North grad tied for 52nd in the prestigious tournament.

University of Illinois freshman golfer and Glenbrook North High School alum Nick Hardy was honored by the Village board this week for his finish in a 52nd place tie at the U.S. Open this year.

“The Northbrook community is tremendously proud of Nick’s achievements,” Village President Sandy Frum read as part of a proclamation on Monday, according to the Northbrook Star.

Then, Hardy addressed the board.

“I’m just a kid from Northbrook who grew up playing the game that I love, and just continued to get better and better and tried to improve at it and work at it, and just believe that no matter how far I get I can work at it and get where I want to be,” he said.

Before the Open, Hardy had been named to the All-Big Ten Men’s Golf team and was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year.
