NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

WARRANT

Nancy F. Alvarez, 33, of the 5600 block of N Spaulding Avenue, Chicago, is accused of having a warrant out of Kane County for failure to appear, and was arrested at 6:18 p.m. Aug. 13, at The Citadel, 1400 block of Shermer Road. Officers responded to the area regarding a call of a reckless driver and were able to locate the described vehicle. Alvarez was released after posting a $5,000 bond.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Carlos P. Buestan Gutama, 24, of the 600 block of N Homan Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving under the influence, improper lane usage, operating an uninsured vehicle, expired registration, no valid driver's license, and was arrested at 11:44 p.m. Aug. 14, at Willow and Three Lakes. He was released after posting a $3,000 bond and was assigned a court date of Sept. 29.

INCIDENTS

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES

  • An employee of a business in the 1800 block of Techny Road reported at 9:39 a.m. Aug. 13, that they believe that the landlord intentionally broke a key off in the front door of the business to prevent complainant’s employees from entering the premise.
  • A person called police at 7:17 p.m. Aug. 14, to report that someone took their backpack that contained a wallet and gift card at The Grove of Northbrook, 200 block of Skokie Boulevard.

UNWANTED PERSON

A person at Ruth's Chris Steak House, 900 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported at 10:47 p.m. Aug. 14, that a woman became argumentative and was refusing to leave the restaurant when requested. The woman left upon officer’s arrival.

THEFT

  • A resident in the 3600 block of Pebble Beach called police at 2:58 p.m. Aug. 15, to report someone took their unlocked bicycle from the front yard without permission.
  • A person at Lifetime Fitness, 1100 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported at 2:22 p.m. Aug. 16, someone took a pair of sunglasses without permission.
  • An employee at Darchei Noam of Glenbrook, 3400 block of Techny Road, called police at 12:39 p.m. Aug. 18, to report someone removed a BBQ grill from the property without permission.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

  • An employee at Oliverii, 1300 block of Shermer Road, reported at 11:31 a.m. Aug. 16, someone put new graffiti on a dining tent.
  • A resident in the 1100 block of Adirondack Drive called police at 11:22 a.m. Aug. 19, to report their home's front glass door was shattered by someone. No entry was made to the residence.

ILLEGAL DUMPING

An employee at Dunbrook Cleaners, 2700 block of Dundee Road, called police at 7:20 p.m. Aug. 16, to report someone driving a black-colored Lexus was seen on video placing items in a dumpster without permission.

RETAIL THEFT

An employee at Ulta, 900 block of Willow Road, reported at 7:25 p.m. Aug. 16, five women entered the store and removed several cosmetic packages from the store without paying for the items.

VANDALISM

Police responded to the area of 1500 block of Elm at 8:23 a.m., Aug. 18, regarding three complaints of new graffiti. A complainant reported that there were new graffiti drawings written in spray paint on two areas of the sidewalk in the block. Officers recovered one spray paint can in the area.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

An officer on a routine patrol at 9:25 p.m. Aug. 18, found new graffiti on the gazebo at Village Green, 1800 block of Walters.
