NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

SUSPENDED/REVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Vito Accardi, 53, of the 2000 block of Beechnut Road, Northbrook, is accused of speeding, driving with a suspended license, no insurance, and was arrested at 3:10 a.m. Dec. 11, at Lake Cook Road and Skokie Boulevard. He was released after posting $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of Jan. 12, 2022.

A manager at a business in the 1200 block of Meadow Road reported at 6:34 p.m. Dec. 9, that a former employee has been making unauthorized charges on the business credit card.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICE

  • An Aspen Road resident called police at 3:26 p.m. Dec. 10, to report they purchased an online training program, then learned that the program may be a scam.
  • An employee at Ace Hardware, 1900 block of Cherry Lane, reported at 3:54 p.m. Dec. 10, a man tendered a check that appeared to have been fraudulent.

CUSTOMER DISPUTE

An employee at the Apple Store, 1500 block of Lake Cook Road, called police at 7:01 p.m. Dec. 10, a man was in the store yelling at employees and refusing to leave. Officers arrived and the man said he was upset that staff could not correct their issue. He left the store without incident.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

A resident of the 2500 block of Mayapple Court reported at 12:43 p.m. Dec. 21, they returned home and found their residence rummaged through. They reported the entry was made through a rear door and that various items were now missing.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES

  • A resident of the 800 block of Downing Street called police at 9:13 a.m. Dec. 13, to report they discovered that the driver’s side rear window of their vehicle broken while it was parked in their driveway. Complainant did not believe that anything was missing from the vehicle.
  • A person reported that between midnight and 4 a.m. Dec. 15, one of their vehicle's tires were flat and they believe this is not by accident as they have had several other incidents at the location, United Parcel Service, 2500 block of Shermer Road.
  • An employee at Caliber Collision, 1800 block of Janke Drive, reported at 9:25 a.m. Dec. 16, that when they arrived for work, they found that their key would not work in the door lock. Complainant said that they then noticed that the strike plate on the edge of the door appeared to be damaged. Officers checked the building and found no signs of attempted forced entry and found nothing missing.

RETAIL THEFT

  • An employee of Ulta, 900 block of Willow Road, reported at 11:11 a.m. Dec. 14, a woman removed several fragrances from the store without paying for the items. The estimated cost of the items totaled approximately $600.
  • An employee at Lowe's, 1000 block of Willow Road, called police at 12:34 p.m., Nov. 28, to report they saw on camera a woman place several power tools and eliminator sprays into a cart, then leave the store without paying for the items.

UNWANTED PERSON

An employee at Panera Bread, 700 block of Skokie Boulevard, called police at 12:56 p.m. Dec. 14, to report a woman was in the store causing a disturbance over being asked to wear a mask while indoors. An officer arrived at the location and the woman left without incident.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO A VEHICLE

A person reported at 9:42 p.m. Dec. 14, someone damaged the windshield wiper and windshield of their parked vehicle at Glenbrook North, 2300 block of Shermer Road.
