Yelling Man Charged With DUI; 'Felony Amount' Of Weed Found: Cops

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which merely represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Therefore, readers are reminded an arrest does not mean a person is guilty.

INCIDENTS

CAR BURGLARY
Someone smashed out a car window and stole a purse from a vehicle parked in the strip mall at the corner of Dundee and Pfingsten roads on the afternoon of Feb. 24, police were told.

THEFT
A resident of the 2600 block of Woodlawn Road reported on the afternoon of Feb. 24 that they suspended someone from a moving company they had hired had stolen about $1,000 in cash during the move.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Robert B. Hagedorn, 31, of the 0-100 block of Washington Street, Glenview, was arrested at 1:24 a.m. on Feb. 23 near the intersection of Shermer and Willow roads and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08. An officer encountered him outside of his vehicle "engaged in a verbal altercation" related to a traffic incident and soon determined he was intoxicated. He was also ticketed for improper parking.

Samuel E. Painter, 45, of the 1500 block of Melrose Avenue, Round Lake Beach, was arrested at 12:06 p.m. on Feb. 26 near the intersection of Dundee Road and Skokie Boulevard and charged with aggravated driving while license is revoked. He was also issued citations for improper passing on the shoulder, improper passing on the right and no proof of insurance. Police said they noticed him commit a traffic offense while on patrol and learned his license had been revoked due to having several previous suspensions. Cook County prosecutors approved the felony charge.

Carlos Martinez, 26, of the 5100 block of West Strong Street, Chicago, was also arrested at 12:06 p.m. on Feb. 26 near the intersection of Dundee Road and Skokie Boulevard. Police said he was the passenger in Painter's vehicle. After running a name check on him, they learned he had an outstanding arrest warrant connected to a charge of theft in Cook County.

Michael A. Goldberger, 47, of the 5000 block of Arbor Lane, Northfield, was arrested at 11:12 p.m on Feb. 27 and charged with felony possession of cannabis, with an intent to deliver, and driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop near the intersection of Willow and Waukegan roads. Police said they noticed his vehicle had a suspended registration. After a traffic stop, the officer noticed that Goldberger's license was suspended. He was arrested and the car was searched before being towed. During the search police reportedly found 8.6 pounds of marijuana inside the car. Prosecutors approved two felony counts of cannabis possession.
