Farmers Market At Gallagher Way: Schedule, Vendors

CHICAGO, IL — Green City Market is coming to Gallagher Way in Lake View May 31, and running throughout the summer. The farmers market beside Wrigley Field will be open every Thursday until Sept. 20 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. — just in time to collect locally-grown produce and home-baked goods for weekend cooking. Live music will also be playing at the market.

Starting at 6:30 every Thursday, chef demonstrations will be offered at the market. Top Chicago-area chefs will use seasonal and sustainable ingredients from market vendors to demonstrate recipes that you can make at home, organizers said.

The market will also host a Club Sprouts table for kids, with seasonal activities and lessons. The table will offer arts and crafts, scavenger hunts and hands-on recipes, organizers said. Children are given the opportunity to taste an in-season market item and receive a stamp on their Club Sprouts membership card. Once the card is filled, the child takes home a certificate of accomplishment and a special prize.

The market matches the value of Link benefits (formerly known as food stamps) dollar-for-dollar up to $15 per market day.
