Medical Emergency To Blame For Fatal Oak Brook Crash

Police say a medical emergency was a major contributing factor in the multi-car crash that killed a Glen Ellyn man on Midwest Road.

OAK BROOK, IL - Authorities say a medical emergency could be to blame for the serious crash in Oak Brook last week that killed an 84-year-old man from Glen Ellyn. Oak Brook police and the Felony Investigative Assistance Team said in a statement that the medical emergency was a major contributing factor to the crash that occurred at 1:24 p.m. Nov. 30 at the intersection of 22nd Street and Midwest Road in Oak Brook.

A further investigation will be done, and charges could be filed after lab tests are received.

The crash that killed Chen Tien involved four cars, including a red pickup truck that witnesses saw driven erratically and running a red light. Tien was the driver of another car involved in the crash.
