Action Sertoma Club visits the Sertoma Centre in Alsip to serve lunch to the consumers. Over 50 pies were delivered to Sertoma Centres and served by Action Sertoma volunteers during three lunch shifts. Consumers were treated to plates of sausage or cheese pizza with their favorite drinks. Overall, the entire lunch scenario was a hit with the consumers!! The club plans on scheduling more lunches for the consumers in the future.
The idea for this festive event was from the Action Sertoma President, Bob Scott. “We do a lot to improve life for those less fortunate than us,” Bob said. “We’re all looking to make a difference in our community and I believe that by giving back, we’re making a positive impact. Last year we celebrated our 50th year of Service To Mankind. It gives me a certain degree of gratification and makes me a better person.” As the Action Sertoma members scurried about serving the consumers and observing them enjoying the pizza, Bob reflected upon the event. “This was the perfect way to accomplish what I had taken in at a bible study class and an event was born.”
Action Sertoma is a not for profit club, 501(c)(3), that was formed in 1967 to raise funds in support of those in the community that are less fortunate than others.
