BOOK REVIEW 'Beautiful Darkness'
A rather infuriating sequel to my review last week, Beautiful Creatures

Beautiful Darkness
By: Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
The Caster Chronicals is back again this week with book two! Before diving into this sequel, I read a synopsis to know what I was getting myself into. From the first summary I knew I was in for a frustrating 500 pages.

Something happens in our Caster-girl, Lena's, family at the end of Beautiful Creatures that causes her to act very un-Lena-ish (I'm not going to say what because it will give away the entire ending to the first book. Oh no, I'm not making it that easy for you.....), and her behavior results in a very hard read.
Remember the adorable southern hottie we all fell in love with, Ethan? Well, Lena's not as in love as before and it causes every reader to burst into tears, then throw the book out the window of a moving train. It gets rough.

Lena is gone for nearly half the book, and it gets to the point where you like Ethan's rebound girl is better then her. When things get that low, I sometimes can't even finish the book. I can't deal with that much emotional abuse! She turns into a real witch, and that's not just because she has magical powers.
Overall, besides my hating one of the main characters with every passing page, no much happens in the first half of the book. It's mostly just the authors torturing the readers, and proving point after point that Lena is not the girl everyone thought. It's not until about the second half that things really get interesting and dark as we travel on a quest through the Caster Tunnels to find Lena and knock some sense into her.
Once the smoke has cleared from the ending (which again I am not going to say, READ THE BOOK PEOPLE... I'M REVIEWING NOT SPOILING) the authors pull a huge bombshell that could either be a blessing or a curse, depending on how the authors use it. Personally, I'm not really sure how it's going to work out, but I've started Beautiful Chaos and I fully intend to find out.
Anyone who wants me to review the third book let me know! Or if you want me to stop stuffing Caster problems in your face let me know that too! Any book suggestions? I'm happy to take some then give you my reviews!
